This is a brief summary of an academic paper I wrote during my studies in Popular Culture at Södra Vätterbygdens Folkhögskola the fall of 1993. (The original is in Swedish. Contact me if you volonteer to translate it.)

The KLF Myth

They're Justified. And they're Ancient. And they say "Mu Mu".

The first part is a quite extensive biogaphy over the band, their history, what events led up to the forming of The JAMMs/The KLF. It contains more or less the same information as the FAQ, but has more references to and parallels with other band's works.
The second part is an analysis of the myths The KLF have created and someting about their origin; the links to Robert A. Wilson's and Robert Shea's books, Dr Who etc.

The sub-headings say:

  1. A band just like any other (I claim they're not; they have a Myth)
  2. History rewitten (formation of the band plus the first records)
  3. Graffitti (more about the first records, the ABBA incident and the art attacks)
  4. Renegade Timelords (Doctorin' the Tardis, The Manual and the movie The White Room)
  5. Cornflakes, styrofoam and sheep (gigs at raves, Chill Out and The Gate)
  6. Justified and Ancient (commercial breaktrough for the KLF)
  7. Dead sheep (Brit Award apperance plus press release about KLF:s termination)
  8. The value of the myths (how to use myths to sell things)
  9. Sex and drugs and rock'n'roll (marketing music with myths)
  10. Atlantis, Mu and Illuminati (the myths that KLF used)
  11. The political myth (the use of myths on the political scene)
  12. Exclusiveness (the more obscure the myth, the more interesting it becomes)
  13. Apperent contents (the contents of the lyrics)
  14. Still no masterplan (the three stages in an artist's career)
  15. References (books, magazines and other sources where I have gotten some facts)
  16. Records (not a discography, but the records I've used in the study)
  17. Videos and films (see above)
  18. Acknowledgements (a short list of thank you:s)
